Digging thru the stash

I realized today (as I was browsing ebay for yarn) that I probably have enough yarn that I could knit/crochet for more than a year without buying more yarn. So, after being inspired by Julie & Julia (as many people have been already) I am starting my blog about my Yarn Stash and the projects I make with it this year.

I started going thru the stash today with the goal of getting all my yarn together in one place. I have yarn in the livingroom, my bedroom, my office at work, and every handbag, purse, backpack that I own!

Well, that went fine for about an hour but you know how that went right? I put all the yarn I found on my bed in a pile and as I got tired, I started to look with longing at the combo of a comfy bed and an enticing pile of yarn. I excused myself from digging for yarn to sit in the pretty pile with the reasoning that I better start organizing it before the pile got too big. Okay, if you are a yarn freak like I am then you already know what happened next right? Yep, I have a cast on with about 20 rows sitting on top of the pile of yarn in my room right now!!! So, I guess this is my first project in using up my stash. It's persian wool crewel thread in a great rainbow of colors and I'm working it on my bamboo circulars. It's gonna be a bag and it looks like a wild reggae bag since I am randomly choosing the colors. Since it's 3 ply crewel yarn, each section is only 24 inches and then I choose a new color. I'll post pics as it gets a bit bigger and let you know how it goes.
